Why Haptique® is Built on Android

Updated 23 Oct, 2024

Concerns have been raised by some users about potential privacy issues related to use of Android for RS90 & RS90x. Specifically, some worry that the system might be monitoring their home networks. However, it is important to clarify that this is a misconception. If Android-based devices, like inexpensive Android TVs, were inherently spying on users, it would be a widespread problem in the tech industry.

Cantata emphasizes its commitment to user privacy and transparency. The platform is designed to operate securely without compromising personal data. Users can rest assured that their privacy is respected, and any fears regarding surveillance are largely unfoinded.

Future Directions

A promising development on the horizon is Haptique®'s ongoing efforts to enable local operation of its system. This means that users could control their smart home devices independently of cloud services, reducing reliance on external servers. By leveraging the flexibility of the Android platform, Cantata aims to empower users with greater control over their home networks.

This shift towards local operation is in direct response to valuable feedback from the Haptique® community. Users have expressed a desire for more autonomy and security and Haptique® is commited to addressing these needs. Updates on this local-first solution will be shared soon, further enhancing the platform's appeal and functionality.
