Network Requirements for Haptique®

Network Requirements 

1. IP Address Configuration

  • Haptique® Remote automatically obtain their IP addresses and other network configurations (eg., DNS,default gateway) via DHCP.
  • Currently, only IPv4 is supported.

2. Subnet Configuration

  • The Haptique® Remote must be on the same subnet to communicate.
  • If used in a managed network environment : Ensure there are no routers or firewalls blocking communication with
  • Devices should not be isolated by VLANs.

Wireless Network Requirements 

1. Supported Wireless Standards

  • Haptique® devices support 2.4 GHz wireless networks (IEEE802.11b/g/n)
  • 5 GHz wireless networks are not supported.

2. Country-Specific Wireless Features

  • The supported wireless features depend on the configured country :
  • This affects the availability of higher WiFi channel (e.g. 12,13,14) which are not allowed in some countries.

3. Client Isolation 

  • Client isolation must be disabled in your wireless network :
  • Some routers and access points have settings that prevent devices from communicating with each other, allowing access to the internet (WAN).

Network Names (SSID)

  • Only network names with valid UTF-8 character sequences are supported.
  • Emojis in network names are not supported, even if they appear to work.
  • Hidden networks are not supported.

Security Requirements 

  • Supported WiFi security :
  • WPA/WPA2 Personal networks.
  • Open networks (without a password) 
  • Entreprise WiFi networks and other advanced authentication protocols are not supported.

mDNS (Multicast DNS) Requirements 

Haptique® devices rely on the mDNS (multicast DNS) protocol for device discovery and communication.

mDNS Service Strings 

  • The following mDNS services are used by Haptique® devices :
  • Haptique® Remote : _Haptique®-remote._tcp.

Domain 

Devices use the .local domain for discovery.

By ensuring your network meets these requirements, your Haptique® Remote will be able to communicate seamlessly, delivering optimal performance and functionality.
