Creating and Using Sequences in the Haptique Config App

Updated 29 Apr, 2025

The Haptique Config App lets you streamline your entertainment setup by creating Sequences—customized command flows that control multiple devices with a single action. Whether you're watching TV, starting a movie night, or switching between inputs, Sequences help automate repetitive tasks and enhance your experience.

⚙️ What is a Sequence?

A Sequence is a set of multiple commands executed in a specific order, with optional delays between each. You can include commands for any type of device your system supports:

  •  IP Control
  •  ADB (Android Debug Bridge)
  •  Telnet
  •  Infrared (IR)

Each command can target any device in your Device Pool. You can also assign Key Mapping to control devices contextually—without switching tabs or inputs manually.

🚀 Getting Started with Sequences

Before creating a sequence, make sure to:

  1.  Add devices to your Device Pool
  2.  Create a Room in the Room section
  3.  Go to the Sequence Tab in the Haptique app

🧠 Two Types of Sequences

1. Predefined Sequences

Quick and easy automation based on common setups.

Currently available options:

  • Watch TV
  • Watch Movie

Just answer a few on-screen questions like “Which device do you use for watching TV?” and the app automatically generates the sequence of commands for you.

  • ✅ Review the sequence
  • 🕒 Set delays between commands
  • 🎯 Finalize your setup

💡 Key Mapping is auto-assigned based on your answers. That means you can control volume, navigation, and playback without switching device tabs on the remote interface.

2. Custom Sequences

Full control to design your own flow.

  • Manually choose:
    • Devices
    • Commands
    • Delay between commands
    • Trigger method

After creating the sequence, you'll manually assign key mappings. For example, choose which key controls which command on which device.

🎯 Example Use Case: Watch Apple TV and STB

Let’s say your home theater includes:

  • 1 AVR (Audio/Video Receiver)
  • 1 Projector
  • 1 Apple TV
  • 1 Set-top Box (STB)

You want two modes:

  • Watch Apple TV
  • Watch STB

Steps:

  1. Create two custom sequences: Watch Apple TV and Watch STB
  2. Assign both to a room (e.g., MyRoom)

▶ Watch Apple TV Sequence

Command Flow:

  1. Power on AVR
  2. Set AVR input to Apple TV
  3. Power on Apple TV
  4. Power on Projector

Once this sequence is run in the Haptique, the remote keys are mapped to the appropriate devices based on the sequence configuration:

  • Navigation, Home, Back → Apple TV
  • Volume Keys → AVR
  • Play/Pause → Apple TV
  • Other Keys → Custom as needed

✅ This way, you don’t need to switch tabs or manually change device focus - just run the sequence and your remote works exactly as needed.

🔄 Smart Transition Between Sequences

Let’s say you’re currently using the Watch Apple TV sequence and want to switch to Watch STB.

Both sequences include some common commands, like:

  • Power on AVR
  •  Power on Projector

Haptique automatically detects already active devices and skips redundant commands.

🎯 For example:
  • If the AVR and Projector are already ON from the previous sequence, the app will bypass those commands in the next sequence.
  • Only the new or changed commands will be executed—like switching AVR input to STB and powering on the STB.

This makes your system smarter, faster, and avoids unnecessary command spam to devices.

🎉 Benefits of Using Sequences
  • ✅ Automate daily entertainment tasks with a single tap
  • 🧠 Smart key mapping saves time and confusion
  • 🔌 Works across multiple protocols (IP, ADB, Telnet, IR)
  • 🔄 Smart device state awareness avoids redundant commands
  • 👥 Supports both beginner and advanced users
  • 🏡 Room-based configuration for flexible setups
